Your 64: Edition ISHARE POST
Your 64 – a weekly roundup of beer stories and news outside Ontario to inspire you for the 64 hours from Friday at 5pm to Monday at 9am – curated by Allegra Swanson.
As someone who’s a huge fan of the craft beer industry in Ontario, I have some beer education (shout out to Prud’homme L1!) and two paper certificates crowning me the beer mile champion (2016, 2017, nbd) but lack a role in the industry or how to properly explain the subtle terroir of the hops making up your IPA. Whatever.
Here’s to the weekend; here’s to YOUR 64.
Free Beer for Life
Wherein Oskar Blues Brewery told people that if they got a tattoo of their latest release’s artwork, they would get free beer at their taproom for life. 26 people rose to the occasion (twist my rubber arm) and got a tattoo of a weasel. Bravo, folks. Where you at, Ontario Breweries? I’m game. Call me: 867-5309.
What Beer Costs in Every State
Okay so they’re quoting on Bud Lite from Walmart BUT STILL we should all be so lucky to head to Michigan and buy the cheapest 24 in the good ol’ U S of A for $14.62.
Earlier this week I had a beer cocktail. It was supposed to resemble a mojito of some kind but due to some heavy handed lychee liqueur, I could barely even taste the mint, let alone the beer. Allow me to present this “Brewdriver” which features a fruit gose and Aperol. Hello, summer. [Key learnings: Be wary of Summerlicious cocktails.]
Pick 6 from AV Club
Here’s what fancy people who can get their hands on American craft beer are drinking this month. If you can get your hands on the ever popular New England Style hazy juicy IPAs like the Gummypocalypse, lmk. Most likely I’ll just hope we see that Stone Ghost Hammer IPA in the LCBO before the summer’s over (likely not).
Two important musings: 1. If I ever refer to this as Bumblebeer, shoot me. 2. Can you have this if you’re allergic to bees? (Getting flashbacks of My Girl… I’ll stick to regular yeast.)
Jeopardy does Craft Beer
How well can you do? Test your skills! But also it’s American, so let me hear that “beep beep beep” and Alex can tell us the answers.
I was going to share a link about the Vietnam CB Scene but the CNN article was garbage (“Indian Pale Ales and sour goses” smh) so I’ll note that hey – it’s booming! And if you care more you can google it.

Cheers to Your 64: This weekend I’m taking “baby’s first” Milkshark up to the Haliburton Highlands. Peach is everything about summer to me. [NO I didn’t wait in a long line on the hottest day of July wearing a full length black dress to get this half an hour after it was released stop looking at me like that.]
